We’ll see you this summer

Summer reading is different. Paces change, sometimes faster and sometimes slower, often unpredictable. For us, novels are year-round, but stories are ideal for summer, that choppiest of seasons.

Which is why this summer we’re taking on a format we haven’t before: short story collections. Longtime ToB followers will know that stories frequently show up on our year-end long lists, and occasionally on the shortlists, but none have gone super deep in the conversation, so this summer we’re changing it up!

And something else new this summer: Instead of a weekly discussion in the comments, we’ll meet up every two weeks for a video chat. The format is still two books a month, and each chat will cover a different collection.

We’ll have our first meetup on June 16, but before then we need to know the six books from 2026 you want to read and discuss. Use the form below to tell us by Tuesday, May 12 at midnight Eastern, and we’ll announce our summer reads on Wednesday the 13th. See you then!
